|Vambrace Power||Smoke Screen|
"When the world fell, I fell with it. When the hunters took control of the Enclaves, I tried to tear them down. Now, I subject myself to their twisted game."
– Iosif Blatov, "Fog"
Fog is a fearless, resilient scavenger. His toolkit allows him to effectively take down Constructs and cleverly escape the hunter's grasp.
After losing his family in the ruins around Moscow, Iosif Blatov joined Tabula Rasa: a group dedicated to the destruction of The Enclaves and the rebuilding of society. Now an expert Scavenger, he gains entry into Enclaves under false identities, strikes blows against the Hunters from within and melts back into the ruins, before moving to another Enclave to start again.
|Smoke Screen||Creates a 12m radius Smoke Screen that blocks visibility for a time||"Sometimes it's best to use the simplest solution. The bolt explodes, leaving a thick cloud, comprised mainly of printing by-products. All highly toxic, of course. But that's why you wear that mask, right?"|
|Heal||250||Heals Scavenger's health within a 5m radius of the area of effect.||"Similar to a health crate, this bolt dispenses a cloud of healing nanomachines into the air, which the Garden's printing fields direct into injuries of nearby Scavengers. They're effective, but they don't have any bedside manner."|
|Shimmy||Move faster while Crouched.||Insects are fascinating creatures, you know. They make an elastomeric protein, called Reslin, which I can use to make new leg tendons for you. They're more robust and elastic and and will let you move much more quickly when you're crouching. Or you could just do a load of lunges.|
|Ammo Opportunist||Increased Bolts per Ammo Crate, and maximum Bolts.||I'll fit your Vambrace with a larger capacity Nanoparticle Ink reservoir for standard bolts. Also, if you're nice to me, I'll program the Garden's crates to dispense larger amounts of NPI to you.|
|Fleet Feet||Gathering Blood grants a 50% movement Speed increase for a time||You need to be fast in the Deathgarden, especially when you're loaded up with blood. This will give you a boost when it's most useful to you. Don't waste it by standing around.|
|Heat of the Moment||Move faster while Revealed||When you get revealed, your body hits you with adrenaline. This triggers implanted reservoirs to flood the muscles with supplemental ATP, enhancing their performance, as well as allowing them to work at full capacity for longer.|
|Emboldened||Delivering Blood grants a 30 Hit Point Shield for a time||You have to be bold, you'll never get into an Enclave if you hide in the long grass all the time. Dig around in the bodies, collect blood to recycle into NPI and you'll be rewarded with a short period of protection. Keep doing it, and might even get out of here in one piece.|
|Sharing is Caring||When an Ammo Crate is collected, you and all Scavengers within 15 meters get bonus Ammo||It can be very cut-throat out there; every Scavenger just looking out for themselves. Teamwork can pay off though. With this equipped, you'll get bonus ammo when you share an Ammo Crate with another Scavenger, and so will they.|
|Tear It Down||Deal more damage to Hunter Constructs||You're a quick learner and seem to be able to deal with complex ideas. I can show you the weak points in every construct in the Garden, if you think you're up to it?|
|Staying Alive||Increased time of Bleedout when Downed||I can do a lot to improve your chances in the Garden, but there's a lot to be said for pure grit, and a base physical prowess that's better than most. You're in far better shape than the majority I see in there. I can work with this.|
Iosif Blatov left the tent, eyes glassy, letting the flap fall behind him. His son was dead. Gone to be with his wife, who had left them a few months before. Disease and malnutrition had taken his whole family, everything he loved, and he now had nothing left.
Over the next few weeks, he moved from settlement to settlement, doing odd-jobs for scraps of food, never wanting to stay long, to see the faces of those around him. The drawn, gray faces that reminded him of his beloveds.
One night, laying next to the fire, he was joined by a stranger, who glanced around the camp, before his eyes settled on Iosif.
"You look like a man who has little to live for," said the stranger, sitting down next to Iosif.
"Who does?" Iosif replied.
The stranger leaned in. "Terrible, isn't it? Would you like to change it?"
With nothing to lose, Iosif Blatov listened to the stranger's tale. He was part of a group who wanted to make the world better, to bring down the whole structure of society - The Enclaves, The Bloodharvest, and especially the Hunters - and start afresh.
Iosif had heard whispers of this group: Tabula Rasa. The Firms called them 'Leeches', saying they only wanted to steal resources, without contributing to society. But the only way to enter an Enclave was by participating in The Bloodharvest - what kind of contribution was that? If all that was needed was a blood sacrifice, surely many people, Iosif included, had already paid that price?
The stranger finished his proposal, and Iosif Blatov only took a moment to think it over. What did he have to lose? If there was a chance that he could make the world better, to ensure that others would be spared this life, why would he not?
Over the next few months, Tabula Rasa trained him, strengthening his body and sharpening his mind, making him an expert Scavenger, so that he could enter an Enclave in the quickest time possible. He learned skills that would enable him to make guerrilla attacks on those[Enclaves, and they taught him how to escape back into the ruins when the job was done.
With this knowledge, and a fire burning within him, he has become one of Tabula Rasa's most valued operatives. He moves from Enclave to Enclave, passing quickly through their Complexes, striking blows from within and then melting back into the ruins.
He has changed identity many times, so that every time he enters The Bloodharvest, he does it as a fresh recruit - a blank slate.
